The Dana Foundation
A Grant for THE PERFORMANCE LAB
Helping Teachers Teach Performing Arts Using Interactive Technology

How do we learn?

Well, as dancers have always learned.

By example.

Studying shape & form. Observation of a Master.

This is how Gus Solomons jr learned.
Click on his picture above.

You are learning the same way, from Gus.

Here are two movement phrases that he taught you in his Master Class. You will recognize them,
as first you have seen them,
and second, you remember them in your body.

You can choose to download these movement phrases to the desktop of your computer.
Or you can simply watch them on the TPL website.
Whichever you choose to do,
know that it is our feeling that you should watch Sam execute the movement many times.

BEGIN BY CLICKING ON THE TITLES BELOW.
NOTE: Only QT movies are provided for "Breathing" & "Leg Sweeps."
We have been thinking that it is redundant to supply both QT & WMV clips,
since both are playable on both MACs & PCs.
Please let us know if you have difficulty playing these movies (contacts below!).

It is not possible to understand movement this complex with a single viewing.

This lovely movement phrase
will stay with you all of your dancer's life.
Practice it. Savor it. Own it.
